The steering wheels are often cracked and worn out at the center, which is a serious safety hazard and can result in bad accidents! The original steering wheels were made by the Quillery Company in Paris, which made steering wheels for a lot of french cars. To make a long story short: Everything can be restored and repaired. Steering wheels are hard to find and if you find one, mostely a car comes with it.
Now, we show the repairing of the center hole by installing an adapter piece. These adapters are made individually, because every steering wheel's cone is a little different.
The adapter piece is cast in stainless steel which is fixed to the original center: Sitting on a step in the original part and with four excentric ears to keep from turning. After instaling it is fixed by the nut that holds the steering wheel on the column.

MY HK 500
This is my 1960 right hand drive HK500. I have purchased the vehicle to use as a daily driver and am currently attending to maintenance items and fitting factory style air conditioning. I have wanted to own a V8 Facel Vega for many years as I regard them as the ultimate classic car. My Facel Vega is a four speed manual version with manual steering and power disk brakes. It is fitted with dual four barrel carburetors and the high output 383 Typhoon engine. It is the only Facel Vega in the specially ordered colour of "Dominion Blue" and is the actual car from the 1960 London Motor Show at Earls Court. When purchased by me the car showed 60,000 miles from new and its condition is consistent with that mileage. The car goes extremely well and is great fun to drive - its immense power will easily make a great cloud of smoke from wheelspin if driven aggressively from take off, while the tyres will chirp again on fast upshifts into second and third gear as the car roars ahead. The sound of the Chrysler 383 though the dual exhausts is quite intoxicating, even at idle. It is a quite a sporty car to drive and the suspension feels taught despite it being a fairly large coupe body. The cabin is very luxurious with many square Metres of original leather (grey piped blue). The dashboard is set so far forward that is makes the HK500 one of the most spacious cars for front seat passengers that I have sat in. My car was delivered new to its first owner Major A Horn in the UK but spent most of its life in South Australia in the ownership of Clive Fromm.
